Hey Fab Folks,

This was a pretty cool weekend. We were blessed with some really great weather Saurday and a majority of our group made it to the Fab Four Festival. Thanks go to Lisa and Michelle for their efforts in making the events so fun.

There should be even a few more photos posted on this site from the weekend.

I plan on holding an early Monday night meeting probably at a former meeting spot like Jason's Deli or the Blackstone Brewery.

Thuis should give us a chance to mingle - talk about the fest and upcoming events. I hope some new members will be able to show up as well.

Didn't get to bed last night.

hey Beatle lovers,

This meeting will be featuring some chat about the changing of the guard in our group. We can talk about all of the polls. We will talk a bit about our group history and some about some goals.

Rocktober is a busy month with the Fab Fall set for the end of the month and we will have some time to discuss that event.

Looking forward to it.

Hey Beatle lovers,

We have a meeting set to catch Dennis and the Wannabeatles rehearse. Dennis said they will perform an original song as well.

The studio visit will be a first for us as a group. I will provide details on the venue when you rsvp yes.

I hope everyone will enjoy this unique meetup.

Big thanks to Dennis for hosting this event.

Hey, guys,

Mellow Mushroom has pizza, calzones, hoagies and salads. Moderate prices. Parking can be a bit tricky. Freshmen arrive at Vanderbilt to check into dorms the following weekend, so I'm afraid the quiet places we've used for meetups this summer (Jason's Deli, in particular) won't be so quiet after classes start back mid-to-late August! Prices are not shown on the website menu, but I think most people can eat there for maybe $12.00 for meal, drink and tax plus tip. Please note the "Magical Mystery Tour" pizza! Payton suggested this venue; I haven't eaten there in a couple of years, but the food was good the last time I was there.

I thought it might be nice to have our meetup a bit earlier in the day...closer to a normal meal time and also to make it easier for people to still do their Saturday errands. I don't really have an "agenda" for this meetup although we might play the "Beatles Game" that a friend and I made up a few years back. It's not a board game, it's not competitive...there's no winner or loser....and that's all I'm going to tell you about it. We may not play it this time...I may save it for another time...but if I come up with some other agenda or activity for the meetup, I'll let you all know. I do hope we can discuss attending the FAB concert at Carnton on Sunday, Aug. 24. They have a contest for the table with the best theme. Last year, I think the "Yellow Submarine" table won. I'm not sure what the prize is for First Place, but if ya'll want to talk about doing that for the FAB concert, we can see what ideas we can throw out there at the August meetup. To see pics of last year's FAB concert at Carnton, go to Chip Curley's website, www.nashlinks.com and scroll down on the left hand side to FAB concert. Click on that and among the great pics is one of the "Yellow Submarine" table. Anything we can do to draw attention to and promote our Nashville Beatles Fans Meetup would be greatly appreciated!

After our July meetup, I realized that I had not asked Fred and Payton to tell us their "Beatles story" about how, when and where they got hooked on the Beatles and their music. Perhaps they will do that for us at the August meetup!

As always, please take a moment to RSVP, even if your answer is "no". I think the restaurant has a room in the back for large groups. I'll call and see how many people we need to have there to get that room, so I will definitely need your RSVP by 10:00 a.m. that morning.

You're asking me will my love grow, I don't know, I don't know....

Hello, everyone!

I think I may have mentioned to a few of you that the July meetup was probably going to be on July 26. Well, that's what I get for not checking the calendar at 3rd & Lindsley! Sorry!

We'll meet at Jason's Deli on West End Ave. at 3:00 for a bite to eat. You certainly don't have to eat there if you don't want to. You can come and sit with us and have a Coke or a glass of tea. Jason's has sandwiches, a great salad bar, pasta dishes, wraps?.about the only thing they don't have are burgers and fries! Most people can probably spend around $10.00 for something to eat, a drink and tax.

FAB plays at 3rd & Lindsley that night at 7:00. Doors open at 5:30, so those of you who can brave the heat can head on down to the club around 5:00 or so to stand in line. Someone, usually Sheryl, will get there early to snag a big table for us if she knows how many are coming to the club. Cover at 3rd & Lindsley is still $10.00, as far as I know. If you don't want to eat at 3:00 at Jason's Deli (I admit, that is a rather odd time to have a meal!), you can order a bite at the club. Their food is okay?nothing to get excited about, but it's okay. Also, to remind you, there is no drink minimum at 3rd & Lindsley, so that's a nice plus. (Nothing like paying $10.00 cover and then having to spend another $10.00 for 2 watered-down Cokes if you don't want to order wine or a mixed drink.)

At our meetup, I would like for each person attending to do a little "show & tell". You aren't required to participate in these goofy things I think up if you don't want to and no one will give you a hard time if you just want to say, "No, thanks." If you do want to join in the fun, bring a Beatles item for your "show & tell". It can be a book, a CD, a collectible, a ticket stub, whatever?.but it should have some special meaning to you. Then each of us will stand up and tell the others about the item we've brought. No one will put the clock on you, so you can talk for 30 seconds or 8 minutes. You can make it funny, poignant, silly or serious, but I do ask that you tell us something true and not made up. If the item you have that means the most to you is related to solo work by any of the boys after their break-up, then it's certainly okay to bring that along for your "show & tell".

I hope you all have a great weekend and a safe and happy 4th of July. (The first time I went to England in 1978, I was in London on July 4th. Oddly enough, they don't celebrate July 4th as a holiday there :-), but many of the Brits wished me a "Happy Independence Day", which under the cirumstances, I thought was rather nice of them!)

I will be e-mailing you with updates on various cover bands playing in our area over the next few weeks. Of course, The WannaBeatles have several gigs which I e-mailed you about earlier today and perhaps yesterday or Wednesday. There is also another cover band playing on July 4 near Henry Horton State Park. I'll e-mail you to remind you about that in another week or so. If you don't already have plans for the 4th, you'll have a least 2 choices regarding hearing live Beatles music that day! Happy Independence Day, indeed!!

It may be way too early for most of you to know if you can come to the meetup on July 19, but please mark your calendar to RSVP about a week in advance. If you RSVP, you are only saying you will or won't attend the meetup at Jason's Deli. You are not saying you will or won't go the 3rd & Lindsley for FAB's show that evening. Since they won't let us reserve a table at FAB's shows, I don't even try to get a head count for that now. Once you do RSVP for Jason's, the site will direct you to a couple of questions about going to the club.

And these memories lose their meaning when I think of love as something new,

Vicki

There won't be an "agenda" for June. I hope that Jason's Deli at 3:00 on a Saturday will be quiet enough that we can carry on a conversation! If not, and the weather is decent, perhaps we can get our food and drinks to go and find a place at Centennial park to sit while we eat and visit with each other.

I really hope some of our newer members will be able to join us for a bite to eat so we'll have a chance to introduce ourselves and get to know them, too! New members, don't be shy! We don't make you stand up and introduce yourself to the group...but you can certainly do that if you want to! We are very laid back and just enjoy getting together to talk about any new Beatles books we've read or any new music releases by the Beatles or by Ringo and Paul or any new videos we've seen or heard about, etc.

FAB is playing that evening at 7:00 at 3rd & Lindsley. Doors will open at 5:30. There is usually a line outside the club by 5:00, but those of you who want to hear FAB play that night can head on down to 3rd & Lindsley after we finish eating.

Of course, some of you may want to skip the meet & eat part and just come to the club. That's cool, too, but please think about coming to one of the meetups...if not in June, then perhaps July. If all you want to do is go hear FAB play, you can do that without joining the meetup. We need members who can and will participate at least 6 or 7 times per year by coming to meetups and also participating in planned activities.
We each gain so much by getting to know each other, by hearing each other's opinions regarding the music and books and films, by listening to others tell of their Beatles "experiences", whether it was 44+ years ago or summer before last when they discovered "the boys" and their music. Going to hear tribute bands and cover bands is always fun, but it's not all this meetup is about!

That reminds me...I have added some important information to the "About Us" section on the website. Please take a moment to read it and feel free to contact Sheryl, the Assistant Organizer, or me with any comments, questions or suggestions you might have. We presently have 45 members. We would probably have about 60-62 members if I hadn't removed at least 15-17 people from the meetup over the last year. These were people who rarely, if ever, RSVP'd, participated in any polls, answered any e-mails I sent to them or came to any meetups. Sheryl and I aren't interested in having 100 members on the rolls when 88 of that 100 are never seen or heard from. What fun is that? I'd rather have fewer members signed up, but who actually come to the meetups and participate in the activities. We're all busy with our jobs, our families and other commitments, but the very least one can do is RSVP each month, show up if you say you're going to and if you RSVP "maybe", then change that to a "yes" or a "no" on the day of the meetup.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I'm fussing at anyone, but I do hope you'll all read the "About Us" section and contact Sheryl or me if you have any questions. The calendar will begin keeping up with the "3 times you don't RSVP" and the 2 times you "RSVP yes and then don't show up" as of June 1.

Just a reminder....cover is $10.00 for FAB, but there is no drink minimum. Food is served at 3rd & Lindsley if you prefer not to eat at 3:00 in the afternoon. Even if you don't want to eat that early, do come and join us at Jason's Deli and have a glass of tea or whatever and eat later at the club. Jason's menu can be accessed online at www.jasonsdeli.com. They have sandwiches, pasta dishes, paninis and wraps, soups and a wonderful salad bar. I would estimate that most people could get food and a drink for about $10.00, including tax.

I look forward to seeing you on June 7!

For the boys,

Vicki

Hey, everyone!

Barbara has graciously offered to be our hostess again for Movie Night! I will send her address and directions to everyone who RSVP's "yes". Our last movie night was in early December and we had a great time! Barbara has a lovely home and big screen TV with a
home theatre system. One of our members has the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan shows on DVD and we hope he can join us and bring that along. Barbara also has "Across the Universe", so we are thinking that might be the second feature.

Please plan to arrive between 6:30 and 6:45. The first feature will begin promptly at 7:00. With a little time for chit-chat and drink refills between features, we should be out of there and on our way by 10:00.

If you RSVP "yes", please let me know what you are bringing. We'll need drinks, chips, dip, salsa... whatever kind of munchies you want. Barbara will provide ice, but someone also needs to bring napkins, plates, cups, etc. Also, please make a list of the Beatles DVD's and VHS tapes you have in your collection so we can have an idea of what's available for future movie nights.

Even if you can't join us, please RSVP. I hope you'll be able to attend because it will be lots of fun! Just a heads-up in case anyone has allergies... Barbara has a dog, a very sweet little Yorkie named Zoey. Zoey is very friendly, but she thinks that everyone who comes to her house is there for the express purpose of throwing her ball for her!

I hope to see all of you old-timers and to meet all the "new kids in town", too! See you Saturday, April 12 at 6:30!

Love is all you need,

Vicki

At our March meetup, we'll talk about organizing a trip to Louisville, KY in late May for the Abbey Road on the River festival. If enough people will commit, arrangements can be made for a bus or van to Louisville on the morning of Saturday, May 24 and returning Sunday evening, May 25. Joe's friend, Carl, is in the travel business, so we hope Carl will be able to stop by and give us some estimates on the cost of transportation and lodging. Of course, the larger the group, the less it costs each person.

We'll also discuss our participation in the fund raiser to be held in the late spring or early summer for the Clarksville Humane Society. Last year, we assisted Joe Kraeske's Travel Meetup group with this event and over $1,000.00 was collected to help the animals in Montgomery County. We hope this year's event will be bigger and better, but we need everyone to pitch in to help! Joe and his wife, Juanita, run the show for this activity, so we'll let them tell us what they need us to do. The Humane Society members are all volunteers and work so hard to better the health and lives of critters, so please be willing to step up and help with this event!

Ben Wilson, who has kindly provided great live entertainment on two occasions for us, is moving from Clarksville to Orlando, FL soon. We hope he'll have time to stop by our meetup and say goodbye. Ben, I'll buy you lunch and a beer if you come!

Finally, if there is time, we may take a few minutes to play a Beatles game.....nothing official such as the Flip Your Wig board game from the 1960's....but just something that a friend and I made up a few years ago. It's not the kind of game that has a winner, but I think you will enjoy it. If we don't have time to do it this time, I'll save it for another time.

Certainly, some of you may want to carpool for the ride to and from Clarksville. FYI, the meetup will end at 3:00 p.m. so those of you who want to go to 3rd and Lindsley that evening to hear FAB play will be able to get back to Nashville in plenty of time to get to the club by 5:00. Doors open at 5:30.

Please take a moment to RSVP. It's a great help if I have some idea of how many people to expect! As always, feel free to bring a guest...or 2 or 3....The more, the merrier!!

I imagine some of you are wondering why we are holding a meetup in Clarksville. Well, when I first started this meetup in July, 2006, for the first three times we met, there were 1 or 2 other members (Lisa Goodrich and Michelle Honick) and me. I was about to give up and just tell meetup.com that I couldn't get this group off the ground when all of a sudden, we had 3 people from Clarksville (Joe Kraeske, Juanita Kraeske and Dennis Adkins) come to our 4th meetup. In one day, our membership had doubled! WOW! Then the next month, those three came back again and brought a friend with them, Alex Adames. The 3 original Clarksville members have been faithful in their attendance, they stay in touch and communicate with me often and always RSVP in a timely manner. I felt it was only fair for us to travel to Clarksville at least once or twice a year to hold a meetup there since they are always willing to drive to Nashville to meet with us! They add a lot to our get-togethers and participate in a good-natured way in whatever goofy ideas I come
up with for our meetups! Thanks, Joe, Juanita and Dennis! Alex has also been a great help when we had our meetups last year in Clarksville by setting up his karaoke equipment and bringing several family members along with him to join in the fun!

Hope to see you all on March 1 at 1:00 p.m. at The Blackhorse Pub. You may check out their menu at www.theblackhorsepub.net. Please note that while beer is served, you certainly do not have to drink alcohol in order to join us nor are you required to order food. But since we are meeting around lunch time, it's nice to know you can grab a bite to eat there if you want to.

Love is all you need,

Vicki

Please let me know if you plan to come to Blackstone's so I can get a table big enough for us to sit together. I don't imagine the restaurant will be crowded at that time of the day on a Saturday, so we should be able to order, be served and finish our meal in plenty of time to get to 3rd & Lindsley by 6:00-6:15.

I hope you'll like Blackstone's. They have a varied menu...sandwiches, salads, pizza, ribs, chicken, steaks and I think even a pasta dish or two. The restaurant has plenty of parking. In fact, we might be able to carpool from there and leave a few cars in the back of their parking lot if you want to. I'll have room for 3 passengers if anyone wants to ride with me to 3rd & Lindsley.

Seeing Abbey Road Live, a tribute band from Athens, GA, will be lots of fun! I saw them a couple of times at Exit/In back in 2006, I think. We have a table for 10 reserved at 3rd & Lindsley. The show starts at 7:00, but that place fills up fast! If you can, plan to get to the club no later than 6:15.

I hope the majority of you will meet at Blackstone's at 4:30 for some chit-chat and a bite to eat and then come to the club to hear the band. However, you may elect to do one or the other, depending on your schedule and your budget. depending on what you order, you can spend as little as $10.00 per person for a meal at Blackstone's, plue tax and tip. Cover at 3rd & Lindsley has been $7.00 in the past for FAB. I haven't verified how much the cover will be for Abbey Road Live, but it will probably be about the same.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Feb. 2 and I really hope that some of our newer members will come and get to know us!
