Hi, everyone!

On Saturday, Dec. 1, we'll have our first "movie night" event! Barbara, a friend of one of our newer meetup members, has graciously offered the use of her big screen TV and home theatre system so we can watch "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!". Snacks and drinks will be provided by Chip Curley, our member who is Barbara's friend. This won't be a late night. Plan to arrive around 6:30-ish. AHDN will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. With a break between movies for chit-chat, and snack and drink refills, we should be finished and out the door by 10:15. There is plenty of on-street parking in Barbara's subdivision. Those of you who RSVP "yes" will be given directions to Barbara's home.

I hope this will become a bi-monthly or quarterly event. Perhaps next time, we can watch "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Yellow Submarine" and then after that, "Let It Be" and so on.

Please take a moment to RSVP. Even if you aren't going to be able to be there for movie night on Dec. 1, please let us know so that Chip and Barbara will know how many people to expect. Kindly RSVP "yes" or "no" no later than Thursday, Nov. 29. Thanks!

For the boys,

Vicki

Hi, everyone!

We had a great time last Friday at the 1964 The Tribute concert! They usually perform in Nashville at least once every 12-18 months, so perhaps those of you who weren't able to join us last week can make it to the next show!

For November, I thought we'd do a little "show and tell" by doing a book report on a Beatles book you've read. It can be your favorite Beatles book, your least favorite, the one you've read most recently or even one you read a long time ago. (If you're like me, you'll have to go back and read it again if it's been a long time since you last read it!)
Bring the book with you if you can and we'll go around the table and each person will have about 5-8 minutes to tell us about their book. We won't put the clock on you, so just relax and give your book report in your own style. When you are finished, you can open up the floor for questions or not...it's however you want to do it. You can stand up, if you prefer, but you don't have to. I don't want anyone to freak out because they can't talk in front of people. Just stay seated and talk like we always do at our meetups and you'll do fine!

This is NOT mandatory! If you don't want to do a book report, you can certainly still
come to the meetup! When you RSVP, you may give the title of the book you'll be using for your book report or you can surprise us the day of the meetup. When you RSVP, please do indicate whether you plan to present a book report or not as that will help me plan the use of our time much better.

Of course, your book can be about one of the Beatles or the whole group. I'm trying not to have any hard and fast rules. This should be FUN, not the pain in the butt it was when we were in English class in the 8th grade!

Dig out some of your old books or go to the library and check out a more current one. Maybe one of us will even come up with a book that all the others haven't read! Wouldn't that be interesting?

New members, please don't let this scare you away! Come to the meetup even if you don't want to do the book report. We are a nice group of people and we always have fun when we get together, so if you're a bit shy about doing something like this in front of people you don't know, well then, come to the meetup and get to know us!

PLEASE DO TAKE THE TIME TO RSVP, EVEN IF YOU DON'T PLAN TO ATTEND. THANKS!

Hi, guys!

We will not have a meetup in September. Our next meetup will be Friday, Oct. 12. There will be a concert at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium by "1964 The Tribute". The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. and since it's general admission, I know that some of you will want to arrive early to get a good seat. Please tell me if you want to meet for a quick bite somewhere downtown at around 5:30-6:00 or if you'd prefer to get to the venue early and perhaps grab a bite to eat after the concert....or just let the concert itself be our "meetup" for October.

Tickets for the concert are $20.00 and may be purchased by calling 361-5639.

Hey, everyone!

FAB is playing on the grounds of Carnton in Franklin on Sunday, August 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Cover is $10.00 per person and I think the money, or at least a portion of it, goes toward the preservation of this historic house and grounds. You can go to Carnton's website for all the details, but you can bring lawn chairs, blankets, food and beverages with you or you can purchase food and drinks there.

For those of you who would like to eat prior to the concert, we'll meet at the Golden Corral at 3020 Mallory Lane in the Cool Springs area. If you've never eaten there, it's buffet style and there is everything from salads to desserts. If we meet there at 3:00-ish, that should give us plenty of time to eat and chat and get to Carnton by 4:30. Some of you may prefer to bring your own food and drink or grab something at Carnton and that's fine, too!

Just be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair and I look forward to seeing you all at the FAB concert!

At the July meetup, we'll hear more from Lisa about the day she spent in Louisville at "Abbey Road on the River" over Memorial Day weekend. We weren't able to ask her many questions a couple of weeks ago because we were trying to get ready for the start of the Humane Association benefit at The Ice House.

Joe won 2 tickets to see The Police in concert at Churchill Downs in Louisville July 14. The prize package also includes round trip transportation by limo from Joe & Juanita's home to Churchill Downs. I know they'll have some stories to tell and photos to show about the concert! Way to go, Joe!

I will be returning from the Vegas Fest for Beatles Fans on July 4, so I'll fill you all in on the goings-on there....well, perhaps not ALL of the activities. As the ad campaign says, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"......

At the request of several of you, we'll have our July meetup at Praline's Restaurant at the Maxwell House Hotel. Just remember that July is tourist season and the last time we were there was in February. It might not be so quiet in there this time...Also, please note that our meetup will begin at 11:00 a.m. rather than the usual noon or 1:00 p.m. Back in February, we were still sitting around shooting the breeze when Praline's closed at 2:00. I don't want to cause the staff to have to stay late because we are still sitting there at closing time, so let's try to be out of there by 1:30-1:45 at the latest. Of course, if anyone needs to leave earlier, that's never a problem.

I look forward to seeing you all next month at Praline's. Please remember to RSVP, regardless of whether your answer is "yes" or "no" at least 2-3 days before the meetup.

Have fun celebrating Paul's 65th on June 18, Ringo's 67th on July 7 and of course, how could we forget the 50th anniversary of the day Ivan Vaughan introduced Paul to John at the Woolton parish picnic, July 6, 1957. (Ivan Vaughan was born on the exact same day as Paul, June 18, 1942, but unfortunately, Ivan was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1977 and passed away in 1994, I think it was.) We all owe a debt of gratitude to Ivan, wherever he may be. Here, here! A toast to Ivan!

Hello, everyone!

Our June meetup will involve a joint effort between our meetup group and Joe's Clarksville Travel meetup group. Joe has arranged an afternoon of music and fun to benefit animals in the Clarksville area. All proceeds from admission and auction items will go to the Clarksville Humane Society. There will be karaoke (with lots of Beatles tunes, I'm sure) as well as some terrific live music by great local talent!

This is a great cause, so please come out and support it! Food and drinks are available for purchase. There is no set admission price, but they will be accepting donations at the door.
There will be door prizes and auction items, too. I don't know if the auction will be a silent one or not, but I know you'll enjoy the afternoon! Bring your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, too!

We're holding a brief meetup at 11:15 before the fun starts at 12:30. Please come and make as large a donation as you can to the Clarksville Humane Society at the door. You might also find a real treasure among the auction items and door prizes, too!

Please contact Joe Kraeske with any specific questions about the musical talent. Joe's worked very hard to make this a fun day for all of us! Thank you, Joe!

We have a lot to discuss and decisions to be made during this next meetup. I don't normally have an agenda for our meetups....we just sit and talk together, but next time, I may have to officially "conduct" the meetup to make sure we get all business taken care of. Ross says he can attend on Saturday, May 5, so keep your fingers crossed that he makes it this time.

We also need to talk about our joint effort with Joe's Travel Meetup in June. We agreed to assist them with the benefit for the Montgomery County Humane Association which will be June 2 at the Ice House in Clarksville. It will be a fun event and will help some very deserving animals, too!

Sheryl, our resident artist, has come up with several designs for iron-ons for t-shirts. We can vote and choose one or we can decide that each person picks the one they like. Who says our t-shirts have to match? Since we'll be putting the iron-on decal on to whatever t-shirt we want, we won't be matching anyway!

Those of you who are going to Louisville may need to discuss some details of that trip, so we'll certainly allow time for that. Don't forget, if you plan to go with the group, please let Joe know by April 12. Joe can give you details about your deposit, time you'll be leaving/arriving, etc. If you don't already have Joe's e-mail in your address book, you can contact him thru meetup.com.

I will let you know within the next few days where we will meet and at what time on May 5. There is a wonderful Indian vegetarian restaurant not too far from Atlanta Bread Company. Lisa, Michelle and I have eaten there. They have a buffet at lunchtime that's quite good. I know some of you may not be especially adventurous when it comes to food, but if you think you'd like to try this place, just let me know. Otherwise, we'll probably meet at our old stand-by, Atlanta Bread Company on West End. We might think about trying the Indian vegetarian place some other time. Let me know what you think and I'll get back with you about place and time on May 5. The time given here for the meetup, noon, is NOT the final decision. I have to put something in the "time" column when I set a date for a meetup.

We have a lot going on this Saturday! Ross Rylance will share stories of his time as a driver for Paul and Linda during Paul's 1990 tour. Ross was a "roadie" for several years and he doesn't always have nice things to say about people he's worked for, but he seems to have nothing bad to say about Sir Paul!

Then after we leave the restaurant, probably around 5:00 or so, we'll head down to 3rd & Lindsley to hear FAB play. These guys all have "day jobs", so playing Beatles music is not how they earn a living. I'm pretty sure they play for the love of the music and they are good! They aren't look-a-likes, but they sound good musically and vocally! I know you'll enjoy yourselves! We have a table for 10 reserved and we'll have at least 9 people, possibly as many as 12. Doors open at 6:00 and the band starts at 7:00, but to make sure that there are seats for the extra couple of people that we may have joining us, we need to get there around 5:15-ish.

Food is served at 3rd and Lindsley, but their menu is fairly limited. I plan to eat at Demos', but you may certainly choose to wait until we get to the club. Both Demos and 3rd & Lindsley have websites and their menus are posted, so you may want to look at them before you decide. Cover for FAB was $7.00 per person back in January. I don't know what it will be this Saturday, but probably close to that amount.

I look forward to seeing you all this Saturday! As always, please feel free to invite a friend or co-worker to come along....the more, the merrier! If we have more than 10, we may be able to pull up chairs to our table or we may not all be able to sit together, but we want to make certain that everyone has a place to sit. FAB is really good, but I can't stand for 3 hours on concrete....don't know about the rest of you since everyone is younger than me!

See you soon!

Vicki
